Going for the Record 420-MPH in 2012
In 1968, Mickey Thompson rolled out the Challenger II streamliner to fulfill his dream of building the fastest piston-powered car in the world. Weather related conditions for setting the record at Bonneville that year prevented him from achieving his goal. Now, Mickey’s son Danny, an established racecar driver and builder himself, is restoring this engineering marvel with the ultimate goal of achieving his father’s dream to make motorsports history.

What We Plan to Achieve:
- To break the current internal combustion wheel-driven land speed record of 417.020 mph by the summer of 2012.
- To successfully complete the dream project of motorsports legend Mickey Thompson and bring the land speed record to the Thompson family.
- To bring about this feat by updating the historic vehicle with the latest racing expertise and technology.
- To produce a show centered around the above attempt that will provide significant exposure for sponsors by telling a great human interest story.
- To achieve maximum media exposure, including television, radio and print coverage, as well as an aggressive social strategy utilizing live streaming, micro-blogging, and the communicative power of the internet.
